Rao Bridge - Hai Phong with a total investment of more than VND 2,200 billion was opened after more than 13 months of construction
On the afternoon of January 25, Hai Phong City People's Committee held the technical traffic opening ceremony of Rao Bridge under the Rao Bridge Investment and Construction Project after more than 13 months of urgent construction in the context of the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. This is a special-grade traffic project, invested by Hai Phong with VND 2,265 billion from the local budget, an important event to ensure the travel conditions of people during the Nham Dan Lunar New Year at the important gateway from Hai Phong to the sea along Pham Van Dong street and connecting with Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway. Consultant and Inspection Joint Stock Company of Construction Technology and Equipment (CONINCO., JSC) is the lead member of the CONINCO - BRITEC - ITST Consortium to carry out this key project.
The new Rao bridge project was built at the location of the old Rao bridge - the junction between Hai Phong city center and Do Son tourist area through Lach Tray road and provincial road 353, and at the same time is a trade gateway connecting directly with the System of Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway, Hai Phong - Quang Ninh Expressway.
By design, the new Rao bridge is a permanent structure built of steel, reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete. The main bridge is about 456.5m long, 30.5m wide, including 03 steel arches and 6 spans of hollow beams, with 6 traffic lanes, directly connecting provincial road 353 with Lach Tray street on the main traffic axis to the city centre. The branch bridges are 9.0m wide with 2 traffic lanes, connected to the 1st floor intersection to form a torus intersection going in the directions of Ngo Gia Tu street, Thien Loi street, Bui Vien street and Lach Tray street.
At the two ends of the bridge are 2 parks and green trees, and at the same time, Modern synchronous lighting, art lighting, and traffic signs systems are installed on the arch of the bridge, along the bridge and connecting streets…
The bridge has a modern architecture in the shape of "Far reaching waves" – symbolizes the will and aspiration to rise of Hai Phong in maritime economic development. The project is expected to meet the city's development trade needs and be an architectural highlight, expanding the green landscape at the southern gateway of the "Red Phoenix Flower City", contributing to changing the face of the city in the direction of civilized, modern appearance…
Although Rao Bridge is a large-scale investment project, with very high technical and artistic requirements, built at the time of the strong outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, the construction progress is extremely impressive. After just over 13 months, the Rao bridge has completed the main items, met the design requirements and officially opened (January 12, 2020 - January 25, 2022) to ensure travel conditions of people on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.
