National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man Oversees the Construction Progress of Long Thanh International Airport

On August 8th, 2024, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, along with a central delegation, inspected the construction progress of Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province. The National Assembly Chairman emphasized the airport's significant impact on the economic development of the Southern Key Economic Zone and the entire country, urging all units to redouble their efforts to ensure the timely completion of all packages according to the established plan.

According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the construction site currently employs over 6,000 engineers and workers, along with thousands of machines, vehicles, and equipment. Package 4.6 has completed the foundation and the M150/25 cement concrete layer (58% complete), and the M350/45 cement concrete surface (2.18% complete). The runway's foundation and M150/150 cement concrete layer are nearing completion. Workers are currently undertaking large-scale construction of the M350/45 cement concrete surface layer and the runway shoulder area.

For the passenger terminal building package—the "heart" of Long Thanh International Airport's Phase 1—construction of the reinforced concrete columns, beams, and floor slabs for the first and second floors is complete. Work is underway on the reinforced concrete beams and floor slabs for the third and fourth floors, with roof completion achieved in several areas. At this rate, the entire reinforced concrete structure is expected to be finished by August-September 2024, allowing for the commencement of steel roof installation. ACV is coordinating with the supervisory consultants and contractors to inspect factories and place orders for equipment to maintain the construction schedule.

As of today, key components of the Long Thanh International Airport project are ahead of schedule by several weeks. The National Assembly Chairman commended the efforts of the Employer and contractors, emphasizing the project's status as a national priority receiving significant attention from the Party, Government, National Assembly, and citizens nationwide. The operational Long Thanh International Airport will significantly impact the economic development of the Southern Key Economic Zone and the entire country. The Party and State expect the airport to become a modern regional aviation hub, potentially creating 200,000 jobs within and outside the airport area. Therefore, the National Assembly Chairman urged the Employer, the Ministry of Transport, and related agencies to regularly monitor construction to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards, preventing any waste or irregularities. Furthermore, the National Assembly Chairman also stressed the importance of worker safety and welfare for all engineers and workers on-site.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented gifts to the investor, supervisory consultant (TVGS), and contractors, and also encouraged the officials and workers at the project site.

Based on the on-site inspection and the investor's report, the National Assembly Chairman commended and presented gifts to the Employer, officials, engineers, and workers for their dedication and perseverance in ensuring the project's progress despite challenging weather conditions.
Recognizing the Party and State's close attention and guidance, ACV and the project's implementing units pledged to dedicate all resources to construction, working tirelessly in a spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain," employing a "work hard, rest briefly" approach with "three shifts around the clock.”

The Project Management Unit and the supervisory consultant (TVGS) regularly inspect the construction site to ensure the project stays on schedule.
