CONINCO & NIHON SEKKEI Association won the first prize award of Architectural Design Competition for Viettel Head office and Commercial Center (VIETTEL TOWER)

CONINCO & NIHON SEKKEI Association obtained the honor of winning the first prize award of Architectural Design Competition for Complex of Head office and Service Center of Viettel (VIETTEL Tower) at Lot D26, Cau Giay urban area, Yen Hoa, Cau Giay, Ha Noi in August, 2011.

The alternate design which won the first prize got consentaneous votes of all members of Selection Council because it showed the image of a strong architectural construction, expressed Viettel’s aspiration and will of development at present and in the future.

The Selection Council focused on examining and evaluating participating options based on the following important criteria:
1. To be in harmony with the general planning of area.
2. Satisfy the maximum utilize requirements.
3. Symbolization
4. First class criteria: satisfy the highest technical demands
5. Feasibility of executing technique and construction economic

The idea of design of CONINCO & NIHON SEKKEI Association originated from the logo of Viettel Group which represented harmony among heaven, earth, men, and the integration of Ying and Yang. Besides, combining with views on continuous movement and ceaseless creativity – the factor contributing to Viettel’s present success, the design team created the image of a tower symbolizing Viettel’s development and prosperity in the future.

VIETTEL 60 stories Tower has the shape with graceful curved surface, the outside is coated with white-stripped pottery glass horizontally, which creates slight white wavy curves. Instead of square shape as usual, design team has rotated the tower a 45o angle and extended East-West block to reduce heat absorption brought from the Western sun.

Beside the unique architectural idea, the design proposes modern structural methods and constructional techniques in conformity with Vietnam’s conditions, which helps to decrease cost of electricity and minimum operation cost.

Located on the most beautiful area of Cau Giay urban area, on the landscape axis connecting two detention reservoirs of the area, VIETTEL Tower is expected to be not only an unique symbolic architectural construction of Viettel Group but also an outstanding construction of Cau Giay urban area and one of the milestones of Ha Noi and Vietnam’s architecture.

VIETTEL expects that the construction will be commenced in 2012, completed and operated in 2016.
