On August 28th, 2012, The first International Symposium on Infrastructure took place at Melia Hanoi Hotel. The Symposium was co-organized by Vietnam Association of Structural Engineering and Construction Technology (VASECT) and Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) under the patronization of Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Transportation (Vietnam) and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (Japan). Consultant and Inspection Joint stock Company of Construction Technology and Equipment-CONINCO was honorably diamond sponsor of the Symposium.
The Symposium got the attendance of high ranking leaders of Ministries, Industries of two parties, Presidents, Vice Presidents of Associations and members, representatives of agencies as well as professors, doctors from Universities, Research Institutes, Enterprises, delegates from Vietnam and Japan.

Speaking at the Symposium, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi – Deputy Minister of Construction emphasized that infrastructure plays an important role in socio-economic development of each countries, comprehensively developed and modern infrastructure system will promote economic growth, life quality and narrow the increasing gaps among areas, regions in our country. In the coming stage, demand of infrastructure development in Vietnam is great, which creates foundation for economic growth in the future. Therefore, learning experience on construction, advanced technology from developed countries is very necessary, especially Japan – the country has comprehensively developed infrastructure system, Japanese experts has much valuable knowledge, experience on this field.

This Symposium is the meeting of brainpower, knowledge of leading experts on infrastructure, scientific associations, societies, great construction enterprises of Vietnam and Japan. The Symposium has collected 11 papers including 8 presentations at the Symposium, especially there was representative of CONINCO Dr. Ha Minh-Member of BoM cum Deputy General Director presented 2 subjects: “Existing Concrete Bridges in Vietnam: An Analysis of Deterioration Modes and Their Main Causes” and “Deterioration of Post-Tensioned Pre stressed Concrete Bridges in Severe Environmental Condition”. Contents of subjects are research, summarization, experience, method to resolve problems and proposals of valuable ideas in infrastructure field. This subject has got appreciation from scientists and delegates at the Symposium.

After the Symposium closed, Vietnam Association of Structural Engineering and Construction Technology-VASECT and Japan Society Civil Engineers-JSCE hold the high-ranking meeting of leaders to discuss together, find cooperation opportunity in scientific research, technology exchange and experience on infrastructure.

The symposium took place successfully and provided valuable information to attendants.   This was opportunity of meeting, exchanging knowledge, experience among managers, researchers, domestic and foreign experts, especially experts from Vietnam Association of Structural Engineering and Construction Technology (VASECT) and Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) with deep and wide profession on infrastructure to bring valuable information to serve stable development of traffic works in Vietnam.
