The mega project of Long Thanh Airport is taking shape as many constructions are ahead of schedule. To put the project into operation in 2026 as planned, the Government required the ministries, sectors, localities, and investors, as well as contractors, to accelerate and synchronize the progress of the component projects. As the supervision and verification consultant for many important components of the project, CONINCO always closely monitored the work items, coordinates closely with the Employer and the executing units, and provided timely solutions when encountering obstacles during the construction process to ensure the quality and progress of the project.
On June 11th, 2024, General Director Phan Ngoc Cuong had a working session with the CONINCO Supervision Consulting Team at Long Thanh Airport, listening to reports on the progress of the components and inspecting the project site. According to the report, at present, many large construction sites have completed their foundation work and are ready to deploy the projects.
For the passenger terminal component, the contractor joint-venture has completed the concrete beam and slab structure for the 1st floor, and is currently constructing the concrete column and beam-slab structure for the 2nd floor. The contractor is expected to finish the entire concrete structure by August or September 2024, followed by the installation of the steel roof structure. By the end of 2024, the entire floor will be completed; the construction will be completed before December 2025; the facade will be installed before March 2026, along with the completion and installation of equipment and trial operation from early 2026.
The air traffic control tower's rough concrete structure has been completed up to the 14M floor, reaching over 75% completion. It is expected that the rough concrete structure of the 107.88m air traffic control tower will be finished by November 25th, 2024, and the steel structure of the tower up to 116.38m is expected to be completed in March 2025. According to the plan, the air traffic control tower will be fully completed by June 30th, 2025, with other components finishing in December 2024. The reserve time for testing and acceptance of the construction is from June 30th, 2025, to September 30th, 2025.
During the site inspection, the General Director highly appreciated the responsible working spirit of the Supervision Consulting Team; at the same time, he reminded the staff of the importance of the Long Thanh Airport mega project and the responsibility of the Supervision Consulting Team for the success of the project. Therefore, in addition to strengthening the inspection of quality and technical aspects of the construction, the General Director emphasized that the staff must also strictly control the occupational safety at the construction site.
The Long Thanh International Airport project is a crucial project in Vietnam's economic and transportation development strategy. The project spans 5,000 hectares with a total estimated investment of approximately 336,630 billion VND. In the first phase, the airport will construct one runway, a passenger terminal, and supporting facilities with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year, scheduled for completion in 2026. The Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 is divided into 4 component projects. Component Project 1 involves the construction of the administrative buildings for government management agencies, with the ministries, sectors, and Dong Nai province as the Employer. Component Project 2 involves the construction of air traffic management facilities, with the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation as the Employer. Component Project 3 covers the construction of essential facilities, with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam as the Employer. Component Project 4 has a total investment of 6,366 billion VND, comprising multiple works, equivalent to separate independent projects. The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority is tasked with selecting the investor for this component. Upon completion, the project is expected to become one of the largest international airports in Vietnam, meeting the future demands for cargo and passenger transportation. |
