Award Ceremony for the International Competition "Master Plan Concept for Long Thanh Airport Urban Area and Surrounding Areas"

On the afternoon of February 21, 2025, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee announced the winners and presented awards for the international competition "Master Plan Concept for Long Thanh Airport Urban Area and Surrounding Areas". The competition attracted 11 entrants from various countries, showcasing a range of creative and impressive ideas. The Joint Venture of the National Institute of Architecture - Nihon Sekkei, Inc., - Consultant and Inspection Joint Stock Company of construction technology and equipment (CONINCO., Jsc) (VIAR-NS-CONINCO), proposing a "twin city model" linking Ho Chi Minh City and Long Thanh, was selected by the Competition Jury and awarded First Prize.
Attending the award ceremony were Mr. Ho Van Ha, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Mr. Do Thanh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction.
Representing the VIAR-NS-CONINCO Joint Venture were CONINCO's Deputy General Director, Architect Nguyen Dang Quang (Project Technical Director); Dr. Arch. Hoang Huu Phe (Project Manager); and representatives from the leadership of the National Institute of Architecture and Nihon Sekkei.
The Department of Construction, acting as the secretariat for the Organizing Committee, stated that the competition aimed to identify the most optimal planning solution. The goal was to maximize the potential advantages, improve land use efficiency in the Long Thanh International Airport area, and meet the requirements for sustainable socio-economic development of the Long Thanh Airport urban area. The winning proposals demonstrated thorough research and generated valuable ideas for land development and diversified exploitation of the airport urban area.


The Organizing Committee awarded First Prize to proposal LT.09 by the VIAR-NS-CONINCO Joint Venture. The proposal's core concept is a twin city model, connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Long Thanh Aerotropolis to create a globally competitive region centered around Long Thanh Airport.
This award is a point of pride and a driving force for CONINCO's architects. It encourages them to continue fostering their creativity in designing unique, modern, and high-quality projects that meet client needs and contribute to the nation's socio-economic development.
Immediately following the award ceremony, the VIAR-NS-CONINCO Joint Venture met with the Project Owner and stakeholders to discuss further refinements and additions to the concept. These improvements will be incorporated into the adjusted master plan project for Long Thanh urban area to 2045, aligning with the general planning objectives approved by the Prime Minister.
