CONINCO and the University of Transport and Communications Organize the Graduation Project Defense for the High-Speed Railway Engineering Class

On the morning of 27 September 2026, at CONINCO’s Headquarters, the Consultant and Inspection Joint Stock Company of Construction Technology and Equipment (CONINCO., JSC), in cooperation with the University of Transport and Communications (UTC), organized the graduation project defense for students of the High-Speed Railway Engineering class. This is an important milestone marking the professional maturity of CONINCO’s team of consulting engineers, who are now ready to take part in key railway projects in the future.

Attending the ceremony, from UTC were Dr. Mai Tien Chinh – Head of the Railway Engineering Department, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Chairman of the Graduation Project Examination Council; Senior Expert Dao Quoc Dao; lecturers of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering holding titles of Associate Professor, Doctor, and Master who served on the Council; and representatives of the University’s International Cooperation Office.
Representing CONINCO were Dr. Ha Minh – Chairman of the Board of Directors; Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Bich – Vice Chair of the Board of Directors; Managers of departments and Business centers; and the students of the High-Speed Railway Engineering class.

Overview of the graduation project defense

A Systematic Step in the Strategy for Developing High-Quality Human Resources

In implementing its plan to train and develop high-quality human resources for the high-speed railway sector, in early 2025 CONINCO cooperated with the University of Transport and Communications – a leading key higher-education institution in Vietnam’s transport sector – to open the first second-degree Engineering class majoring in High-Speed Railway.

The students are members of the Board of Directors, the Board of Management, Manager of administrative departments and affiliated units, and CONINCO’s core consulting engineers. Although they are all managers and key engineers directly directing and implementing many important projects with very heavy workloads, the CONINCO’s students consistently maintained disciplined study habits, actively exchanged professional views with the lecturers, and successfully completed the extensive body of knowledge in the curriculum. After nearly two years of study and research, the students completed the program and entered the graduation project defense, with two specialized orientations: high-speed railway alignment, and railway bridge and tunnel structures.

Rigorous Assessment Linking Academic Standards with Professional Capability

In his opening remarks, Dr. Mai Tien Chinh, Chairman of the Defense Council, announced the Decision establishing the Council for evaluating the graduation projects of the second-degree High-Speed Railway Engineering program (Cohort K29.1) and the list of students eligible to defend. Stressing the serious and objective nature of the final assessment, he explained the working regulations and the specific requirements for presentation length, the format of direct questioning and critique before the Council, and the completion of the explanatory reports and technical drawings after the defense. He also wished the students to stay calm and confident for a successful defense.

CONINCO’s students present their graduation projects and answer the Council’s questions

Immediately after the opening, the students proceeded to defend their graduation projects before two Councils. The defense was not only an examination of academic results but also a practical forum for professional exchange. Through the students’ summary presentations and the Councils’ in-depth questions and critiques, many issues were analyzed and clarified, including technical matters, alignment design options, bridge and tunnel structures, and technology directions in the high-speed railway sector. The graduation topics of the CONINCO’s students were highly rated by the Councils for their practicality and for applying modern railway technical standards.

Looking Further: From an Academic Foundation to Practical International Training Cooperation

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Ha Minh expressed his emotion at directly attending the students’ defense. Having spent ten years researching and teaching at Saitama University in Japan, where he trained many generations of engineers from Japan and many other countries, Dr. Ha Minh shared that the solemn atmosphere in the hall brought back many deep memories of the lecture hall. On behalf of CONINCO’s leadership, the Chairman sincerely thanked the lecturers of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the International Cooperation Office, and the Graduation Project Examination Councils of UTC for their dedicated support, and expressed special appreciation to the University for holding the graduation defense directly at the Company’s Headquarters.

Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Ha Minh speaks at the ceremony

Congratulating the students of the first cohort on their graduation, Dr. Ha Minh expressed his hope that the new railway engineers will apply their knowledge to real projects, and encouraged staff currently enrolled in the Company’s subsequent railway training classes to keep striving to complete their programs.

In particular, Dr. Ha Minh announced that, building on the knowledge foundation from UTC, CONINCO is expected to sign an agreement and organize an in-depth practical training course on urban railway and high-speed railway, sponsored and exclusively transferred by a leading Japanese railway corporation. The Chairman is confident that, in the near future, CONINCO will have a team of true experts – not only strong in qualifications but also mastering international hands-on experience, contributing to raising CONINCO to a new level.

The graduation project defense for the UTC High-Speed Railway Engineering class concluded successfully. The success of this first course is a solid launchpad for CONINCO’s engineers to step confidently into the nation’s key railway projects, and to continue putting into practice the mottos “Global Vision – Practical Action” and “The Farther We Look – The More Effective We Are” on the journey of creating sustainable works for the future.

Congratulations to the new CONINCO’s railway engineers on their successful graduation project defense
