Chief of USAID Vietnam Clean Energy Program visited and worked with CONINCO

On July 22nd, 2014, Chief of USAID Vietnam Clean Energy Program visited and worked with CONINCO, he wished to cooperate with CONINCO in long term to together develop green works in Vietnam.

Attending the meeting, regarding CONINCO, there were Mr. Ha Minh – Member of BoM cum Deputy General Director and staffs of Center of International Cooperation and Consultancy, regarding partner, there were Mr. Joseph J. Deringer - Chief of USAID Vietnam Clean Energy Program and experts of the program. 

At the meeting, Mr. Joseph J. Deringer introduced activities of USAID in Vietnam, specifically, USAID Vietnam Clean Energy Program. 

USAID Vietnam Clean Energy Program funded by USAID is to enhance effectiveness of using energy in building field, which started in the morning of May 6th, 2014 in Hanoi. 

This project will supply technical support and training for staffs and relevant parties in building field. Technical support will enhance capacity of management, analysis and using energy data in building, create data base on using effectively energy in building and deploy Vietnamese building code “Energy Efficiency Buildings” (VBEEC), unified with  Action Plan on Green Growth of Vietnam for building field. The project will activate VBEEC application and green building technologies through market innovations and practicing management of energy demand.  

The support project of USAID will be carried out with cooperation of Ministry of Construction and construction agencies in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Hai Phong, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa as well as universities, research institutes and construction developers. Long-term target of the project is to support stable growth of Vietnam by reducing greenhouse gas emissions through using power more effectively in building field.  

Through the meeting, Mr. Joseph J. Deringer appreciated CONINCO and expressed the desire to cooperate with CONINCO to develop green works in Vietnam.

USAID’s programs have currently supported Vietnam’s development by concentrating resources on necessary places in the field of health, competitiveness of private sector, environment, social services for vulnerable residents, and university education. USAID played an important role in helping Vietnam to integrate into global market through participating in WTO and U.S. – Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). USAID is cooperating with Vietnam Government to motivate market integration through support relevant to Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP) which is under negotiation. USAID cooperated with Vietnam Government to enhance transparency in building laws, responsibility in analysis, improve information access and competition capability.
