CONINCO and SMEDI (China): Towards a Strategic Partnership

On 2025-08-14, a delegation of leaders from Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute (SMEDI) held a working session at CONINCO's headquarters. The meeting aimed to exchange experiences and seek potential cooperation opportunities between the two leading firms in the construction consulting sector in Vietnam and China.
Representing SMEDI at the meeting were Mr. Yang Li – Vice President; Mr. Yu Zheng – Marketing Director; Mr. Zuwei Song – Deputy Chief Engineer; Mr. Xiang Chen – Deputy Chief Engineer; and Mr. Guoqing Zhang – Designer, along with other staff.
Welcoming the partners, CONINCO was represented by Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan – Member of the Board of Directors, General Director; Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang – Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh – Director of T.A1; Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu – Deputy Head of Business Department; Mr. Pham Tien Quynh – Deputy Head of Technical Management Department, Deputy Director of Railway Project Consulting Center (T.RC).
At the meeting, both parties provided an overview of their history of formation, core capabilities, and notable projects undertaken, while also sharing their strengths and future development directions. This serves as an important basis for both sides to assess their compatibility and potential for collaboration when implementing joint projects, laying the groundwork for long-term cooperation agreements.

Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute (SMEDI) is one of China's leading design and engineering consulting groups, with extensive experience in planning, design, engineering consulting, EPC, and project management. Mr. Yang Li – Vice President stated that SMEDI regards CONINCO as one of Vietnam's leading consulting firms, having successfully implemented key national projects and major projects in Vietnam, and has strategic partnerships with numerous partners worldwide. Therefore, SMEDI is very keen to cooperate with CONINCO to combine their respective strengths and experiences, thereby developing and providing high-quality engineering consulting services to the construction market in Vietnam as well as the region.
This was the first official meeting between the two parties. On behalf of CONINCO's Leadership Board, General Director Nguyen Manh Tuan thanked SMEDI's leadership for their interest and for taking the time to visit and work at CONINCO. The General Director emphasized that CONINCO always values expanding international cooperation with reputable partners to develop together and deliver high-quality services to the market. The General Director also expressed confidence that with the capabilities and experience of both sides, CONINCO and SMEDI will have many opportunities for successful cooperation. The meeting successfully laid a solid foundation and opened a direct channel for dialogue, enabling both parties to pursue more specific cooperation steps in the near future.

Concluding the meeting, the leaders of both sides expressed hope that this successful first meeting would mark the beginning of a strong strategic partnership.
