On the afternoon of July 13th, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi, along with representatives from the departments, bureaus, and institutes under the Ministry of Construction, visited and worked with the Vietnam Association for Structural and Construction Technology (VASECT) at the conference hall of CONINCO. The Minister was received by Professor Nguyen Van Lien - Chairman of the Association, Mr. Nguyen Van Cong - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Association, Chairman of CONINCO's Board of Directors, Associate Professor Tran Chung - Vice Chairman of the Association, Mr. Nguyen Luong Binh - Vice General Secretary of the Association and Vice General Director of CONINCO, Mr. Phan Ngoc Cuong - General Director of CONINCO, along with professors, associate professors, and doctors representing the leadership of institutes and universities as standing members of the Association's Executive Committee.
On behalf of the Executive Committee of the Association, Professor Nguyen Van Lien was delighted to welcome Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi and the leadership delegation of the Ministry to visit and work with the Association. At the meeting, the Chairman of the Association reported to the Minister on the activities of the Vietnam Association for Structural and Construction Technology since its establishment in 1984. To gradually contribute to improving the quality of construction works as well as the effectiveness of state management of construction quality in Vietnam, the Association has chaired and co-organized many seminars and annual scientific conferences, published regular journals, implemented scientific and technological research projects, and disseminated new achievements in the professional field for practical applications. Many seminars with the participation of organizations, individuals, and leading experts have gathered timely research results in civil and industrial construction, transportation, and hydraulic works, which have been highly appreciated. Through these seminars, many suggestions and proposals have been reflected, reported, and absorbed by relevant agencies for supplementation and adjustment before issuing legal documents related to the fields in which the Association participates.
By promoting the strengths of the professional technical association, the members of the Association proactively grasp information and collaborate in the field of structural and construction technology, making a significant contribution to the development of the construction industry, gradually meeting the requirements of management, consulting, and construction of large and modern construction works.
During the working session with the Minister and Ministry's leadership delegation, the Chairman of the Association and the scientists and experts in the Executive Committee raised some suggestions and exchanged ideas on standardization work, quality human resources training for the future, organizing international seminars on the topic of "Expressway - Issues raised in Vietnam", and building a "Vietnam Structural and Construction Technology Award" project with the hope of the Minister's attention, guidance, and support for the Association's activities.
Recognizing the contributions and dedication of the Association and its members over the past 39 years to the development of the construction industry, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly appreciated the role of the Association in researching scientific topics, criticizing and constructing Vietnamese standards. The Minister emphasized that the Association is a gathering of leading experts in the field of structural and construction technology, and has operated very effectively, practically, and diversely for over 39 years. Acknowledging all the suggestions of the Association, the Minister said that there were some shortcomings in the current standardization work, and the Ministry would study them during the process of policy development and management. The Minister agreed with the Association's suggestion to pilot the "Design Standards for Reinforced Concrete and Steel Structures" and organize an international seminar as well as build the "Vietnam Structural and Construction Technology Award" to encourage scientists, experts, and students to research practical topics. The Minister hoped that the Association would build an award with quality, prestige, and great influence on those who work in the construction industry, inspiring them to love their profession and contribute to the development of the construction industry in general.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his desire for the Vietnam Association for Structural and Construction Technology to continue to effectively utilize its 39 years of building and development, overcome current difficulties, connect and gather leading experts, scientists, and members to continue to have specific activities and make even greater contributions to the Ministry of Construction in the state management of structural and construction technology. The Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Construction is very interested in, supportive of, and creates conditions for the Association's effective activities. At the same time, the Minister requested the Association to focus on scientific research to improve the quality of construction works as well as the effectiveness of state management of construction quality. He wished the Association to continue to have new development steps, diversify its activities, and actively contribute to the development of the construction industry. The Minister emphasized that the success of the Association also contributed to the Ministry of Construction's completion of economic and political tasks for the country's development.
Taking in the guidance of Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi, the Chairman of the Association, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Lien, and the leadership of the Association are determined to perform their tasks well, striving to build a stronger Association and contribute to the development of the construction industry.
